Environment
Mitra accepts that its operations affect both the local and global environment and is committed to reducing its impact. Key points of our strategy to achieve this are:
- Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible
- Measuring our impact on the environment and set targets for on-going improvement
- Meet or exceed all relevant environmental legislation that relates to our business
- Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst contractors and suppliers
- Use an accredited programme to offset greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities
- Minimise emissions through the selection and use of its fleet and the source of its power requirement
- Encouraging the adoption of these principles by our suppliers
Community Relations / Social Responsibility
It is a core principle of Mitra that while engaged in all oil & gas exploration activities, we operate in a manner that is consistent with the welfare of our neighbouring communities.
Mitra shall endeavour to improve the living standards and well-being of the people in the areas it operates. We shall contribute to community development projects aimed to improve the levels of health, education and welfare services. These activities shall be carried out in consultation with the local community and other stakeholders.
Corporate Responsibility
Mitra does not tolerate bribery and has put in place policies to combat corruption and ensure compliance with the UK Bribery Act 2010.
Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
Since Mitra's formation in mid-2005 the company has undertaken numerous 2D / 3D seismic operations and drilling campaigns in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. These campaigns have accumulated exposure in excess of 1.2 million man hours, with zero recordable and zero lost time incidents. Currently the company performance is as follows:
This is top quartile performance when compared to industry benchmarks such as the International Association of Drilling Contractors (2010 TRIR – 1.32) and Oil & Gas Producers (2010 TRIR 0.336).
